At Build For Good, we connect all of our neighbors to their power as decision-makers in our community's future. We ensure that people who have been historically left out conversations about homelessness and housing insecurity have a seat at the decision-making table.

Build For Good connects our neighbors who have been impacted by homelessness and housing insecurity with their power to lead the movement to end homelessness in the Mohawk Valley
Lived Experience Leadership Academy
Lived Experience Leadership Academy (LELA) is a six-week leadership training program for individuals who have experienced homelessness and are interested in taking an active role in the movement to end homelessness in the Mohawk Valley. LELA sessions combine group discussions, skill-building workshops, and educational presentations.
LELA explores topics such as the history of homelessness, funding for homelessness services, the local homelessness service system, and effective lived experience storytelling. LELA members are offered incentives, food, and transportation assistance to help eliminate any barriers to participation.
LELA graduates are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and relationships to confidently serve as changemakers in workgroups, committees, boards, and coalitions addressing homelessness and housing insecurity. Through the LELA Alumni Network, graduates belong to a growing community of Mohawk Valley neighbors with lived experience of homelessness who share a commitment to the local movement to end homelessness.
