Housing systems were designed to make a difference in people's lives. Yet, the housing and other systems we inherited were designed in a different time. They were built to ensure that some people are well-connected to resources, while others, especially people of color and people living with disabilities, can experience harm.
At Build For Good, we believe our community can find solutions to make sure all of us have access to what we need to achieve long-term housing stability. That’s why we're working with you to reimagine our housing system to solve homelessness and benefit all of us.

BANKING ACCESS
Banking is for everyone!
Build For Good is proud to serve as the lead agency for Bank On Mohawk Valley.
Research from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation shows that there are many reasons why our neighbors lack a basic transaction account: not enough money for the minimum balance; distrust of financial institutions; high or unpredictable fees; or identification, credit or banking history problems.
Some of our neighbors rely on expensive alternative financial services, including check cashers, payday lenders, and pawn shops that charge high fees for financial services that fail to help people get ahead. Without a checking account, our neighbors wind up paying too much for basic financial transactions and are hard pressed to build savings and assets.
About Us
Bank On Mohawk Valley is a locally led coalition of community partners working together to help improve the financial stability of our unbanked and underbanked neighbors in the Mohawk Valley. We are a part of a national initiative of over 100 Bank On Coalitions nationwide.
In addition to connecting people to safe and affordable accounts, we work to raise public awareness, target outreach to the unbanked, and expand local access to financial education.
